Emerald, sapphire and diamond-encrusted drop earrings and statement necklaces dominated Monday's major red-carpet events -- and stars flocked to the Trophée Chopard party where Anya Taylor-Joy and George Mackay scooped up prizes for the most promising young actor and actress.

Showpieces by the glitziest names in the jewelry industry -- Bulgari, Avakian, Chopard, De Grisogono and Lorraine Schwartz -- kicked off another week of sparkling moments on Cannes's red carpet. Arriving at "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" film premiere, Portuguese model Sara Sampaio was bedecked with maximalist diamond and emeral jewelry. Standout pieces included her pear drop earrings and two cocktail rings by Avakian.

Emeralds were also Kristin Scott Thomas's jewel preference. The British actress added an extra shot of color to her fuschia Schiaparelli dress with a striking pair of three-tiered emerald and diamond earrings by De Grisogono.

Fellow Brit Jourdan Dunn also stepped out in De Grisogono, wearing the Allegra bracelet and a pair of boule earrings, which looked as though they had been custom-designed to match the shade of her blush couture dress by Elie Saab.

Eva Longoria wore statement multiple cascading line drops by Lorraine Schwartz while Sonam Kapoor changed tack with  'blink and you'll miss them' earrings by Chopard, letting her spectacular gold brocade gown steal the show.

French actress Caroline Receveur livened up her mini-dress in black tulle with a little subtle sparkle, courtesy of diamond drop earrings and pendant by Bulgari.

After dark at the Trophée Chopard party, Andie McDowell made a memorable impression as she appeared in a stunning sapphire and diamond Chopard necklace.

US actress and Trophée Chopard winner for the most promising actress Anya Taylor-Joy also cut a dash at the event, wearing simple Chopard studs.
