Hermès : Men's show Autumn/Winter 2018/19 (with interview)

Artistic Director: Véronique Nichanian Collection: A wardrobe of generous volumes with a play on natural materials and techniques, with for the evening, silhouettes, with mineral toned polka pots. Focus: on the quilted jackets and parkas, on the omnipresent leather, on a knitted jumper decorated with a marquetry of leather designed as abstract landscape, on the sharp colours with touches of shocking pink and lime green and numerous leather details on the reverse of pockets or the boarders of the sleeves of a jacket. To note: The XL Kelly bag for men.Interview with Véronique Nichanian: Making light things warm, that’s important, it’s lightness, so to quilt a light flannel coat, that gives extra comfort, and a softness. Playing with the fabric, playing with materials, with lightness, playing with fire. I love playing with leather, and this house wonderfully allows me to and then it’s also the leather inlays, the marquetry of leather on the bags and on lambskin leather in front and then this drawing was done in intarsia for quite big knitwear pieces but really it’s a leather marquetry and we have again this drawing which is embroidered and slashed and which continues all these lines like that, so taking the same design but a more abstract version. We slightly explode the codes of the traditional suit, so the construction of a suit stays the same and even for the evening, we have very very light suits up of these silk neckties and these reversible jackets that allow you to wear two colours. I always have transformable clothes, playing with details, clothes, it’s like in life, we have multiples lives and I like multiple clothes.
