Having joined Coty from the Chalhoub Group in 2008, Dufresne has most notably served as vice president of global trade marketing for Coty Luxury. His other positions at the company have included vice president for Asia and Middle East regional marketing and head of commercial integration M&A, a role in which he led the post-acquisition integration of the Burberry Beauty business into Coty Luxury.

"Through the different roles in which he has served in Paris, Dubai and Singapore, Mathieu has developed an exacting knowledge about the dynamics of local and global markets, as well as a deep understanding of the needs of consumers and an expertise in terms of executing excellence," said Coty in a release.

In the first quarter of fiscal 2019, the American cosmetics group saw its sales drop 9.2% to $2.03 billion.
