Savile Row is gearing up for a major event next year with a current exhibition that “details the time-honoured partnership between tailors from the Row and classic car manufacturers”.

The Pollen Estate

The street’s major landlord — the Pollen Estate — has linked with publishing house Hothouse Media for the exhibition that comes ahead of the Concours on Savile Row car event that’s currently planned for June 2022.

The exhibition has just opened at The Service, 32 Savile Row, and runs until 15 December.

Savile Row tailors have a historic relationship with the automotive industry, from driving suits, to driving jackets and even car interiors.  And the show highlights the shared attributes between tailors and luxury car marques such as “craftsmanship, beautiful design, high-quality materials, attention to detail, and discerning customers”.

It features “disciplines intrinsic to the process of creation, such as weaving, leatherwork and woodwork".

Within the exhibition, a selection of tailors display previous collaborations with automotive manufacturers. These include the Cad & the Dandy X Bahrain Mclaren, driving jacket; Dege & Skinner X Bentley’s bespoke driving coat; Huntsman’s X Marc Newson’s driving suit when he raced the Mille Miglia; Henry Poole & Co X Range Rover’s 50 years celebration of Range Rover; and the Norton & Sons X Lotus bespoke driving jacket available exclusively to customers of the Lotus Evija hypercar.

There’s also a collection of artworks from Historic Car Art in a range of mediums such as art, prints, posters, and photography.
