Southern Tide has launched an exclusive seven-piece men's capsule made from recycled fishing nets and bottles found in the ocean, aiming to raise awareness about the company's goal of supporting marine conservation.

The capsule includes four mesh performance t-shirts, shorts, a water-repellent hoody with magnetic zipper and a hybrid performance sport shirt. Southern Tide used Unifi's Repreve, a leading performance recycled fiber derived from plastic bottles.

In a release, Southern Tide CEO Christopher Heyn explained the capsule was born out of a partnership with marine conservation non-profit, Ocearch, saying "we wanted to produce bona fide product that not only appeals to the lifestyle of the dedicated Ocearch crew[...], but also stays true to the craftsmanship expected from the Southern Tide customer."

18 plastic bottles were recycled in the fibers that make up each of the mesh tees. The shorts are made from recycled nylon fishing nets.

Heyn added, "I hope our consumers appreciate our authentic design point of view in this collection."

Southern Tide was founded in 2006 in South Carolina. It began partnering with Ocearch in 2017 and has grown its partnership in line with its company goal to "create a better planet for future generations."

The capsule launches online, at Southern Tide signature stores and at key retail locations on Sunday, May 20. 10% of net sales from the capsule will go to Ocearch's marine work.
