Timberland Europe expands distribution centre in Almelo

Timberland Europe will be expanding its existing distribution centre in Almelo, the Netherlands.

Aspen Real Estate Investments announced that its developing the approximately 13,000 square-metre expansion in collaboration with APF International and Timberland Europe. Upon completion, the distribution centre will have a floor area of 52,000 m2.

Developer, Aspen Real Estate Investments, said that the expansion of the distribution center will allow Timberland Europe to further facilitate current and future growth, while at the same time, taking the next step towards further optimisation and modernisation of the logistics processes by implementing a new high-tech order picking system.

In addition, Timberland announced in August that it is expanding its Dutch store portfolio with the opening of three additional stores in the country.

On September 1, the outdoor brand unveiled a 100 square-metre store in The Hague, offering footwear collections for men, women and children in addition to accessories for men and women as well as men's clothing.

Two weeks later, Timberland set-up shop in Haarlem in a 60 square-metre building with a range consisting of footwear for men, women and children; men’s and women’s accessories, and men’s clothing.

In October, the brand will unveil a 120 square-metre store in Rotterdam, at the popular shopping destination, Lijnbaan. The shop will be Timberland’s second branch in the city, offering men’s, women’s and children’s footwear and menswear.

With the additional stores, Timberland operates 11 brand stores in the Netherlands. The outdoor label also operates a web shop for the Dutch market.

Timberland settled at the Almelo distribution center in 2012, which was an investment of €50 million at the time.
